Bare & Boho Customer Review

When looking to try an all in two (AI2) system, Bare and Boho stood out to me as a front runner, I’d seen lots of positive things on social media and seeing the beautiful prints they do swayed me! Also the idea of re-using the same shell for 3-4 changes (if not soiled) seemed like a great way to save on storage, washing and money. 

On first impressions I was not disappointed, the prints are so delicate, subtle and luxurious. The materials they use are so soft. The shell is a lovely, thick, silky PUL with a double gusset! The inserts are unique as they have a gusset and are shaped to fit the shell perfectly. They have a soft fleecey type top to them, making a liner optional. And lastly they came with an extra booster! So in my opinion really good value for money. 

I should point out that bare & boho recommend washing the shells at 30 degrees, while the inserts can be washed up to 60 degrees. This was easy for a prewash, but with subsequent use I have washed the whole system at 40 degrees with no issues, but please be mindful this is not in line with their recommendation. To overcome this, you could put the shells in a prewash and take them out before the main wash, or put them in with other household items. 

When drying these nappies I noticed the bamboo insert takes longer to dry than the hemp equivalent, with bamboo taking over 48 hours on an indoor airer while the hemp is between 24-48 hours. This is quite slow compared to many other inserts, so it would be a good idea to have a good supply of inserts to allow for this. They can also be tumbled on low if needed, which will also soften them. 

Fitting these nappies was a bit tricky at first as I want used to this type of system. The insert needs to stay tucked within the shell, which is more apparent on the smallest rise, but I noticed the gusset on the shell is quite tight so I went up a rise on these compared to other brands, which improved both of these things. Once you have found which rise/waist popper settings are best, fitting them is then easy with a hip stability popper to help with wriggly babies. 

The fantastic thing about these nappies is the absorbency and the containment, the gussets keep everything in really well, while the thirsty insert is really absorbent and you have an extra booster if needed. This lasted us for anywhere between 3-5 hours. I personally found no difference in absorbency between hemp and bamboo, however I did notice that the hemp insert does bobble, go a little crispy and needs reshaping due to the nature of the material and being in a hard water area. (My hemp insert pictured has picked up a little blue dye so a slightly different colour to usual!)

Overall, I love this brand and they have been really successful for us in terms of containment and absorbency. I personally prefer the bamboo insert as it stays a little softer, and a quick tumble can hugely reduce the drying time. Lastly if I haven’t already mentioned, they are hands down the most beautiful nappies I own! If you’re wanting to try an AI2 system these are definitely worth a go.
